RECORD PLAYER ROCK MIXTAPE

Lettering Design

Alex Trochut is one of the most recognised lettering artists working today. His work has defined the visual identity of projects across music, fashion, and culture. For Beat Saber's Rock Mixtape, he developed the keyart that anchored the entire campaign.The sketches show the process: multiple directions explored, forms pushed and refined until the lettering had the weight and energy the brief demanded. That exploration is what makes the final result feel inevitable rather than arbitrary.For the animation team, working from Trochut's keyart meant building a motion language that could hold its own next to his static work. The lettering was the starting point. Everything else had to follow.

Beat Saber is one of the most played VR games in the world. When they launched their Rock Mixtape, they needed packaging that could communicate the energy of the release in ten seconds. Directed by Studio Mostro, co-produced by Brut Works, Special Guest, and 1st Ave Machine.
Ten seconds is not much room. The piece had to land immediately: the right tempo, the right visual weight, no wasted frame. Studio Mostro delivered three pieces in that format, each one precise, each one hitting without setup.
The keyart was developed in collaboration with Alex Trochut, whose lettering set the visual tone that the animation had to match and extend. Starting from his work meant starting from a high bar. The animation had to earn its place next to it.
Two disciplines, one result. The kind of project where every decision shows.

Google and 1st Ave Machine gave Brut Works three months to research, experiment, and find the visual language for the global Pixel 6 campaign. No fixed brief, no predetermined aesthetic. Just: explore the new Android 12 shapes and bring us something we haven't seen.
That kind of brief is rare with a client of this scale. Most large campaigns arrive with a direction already decided and a timeline that doesn't allow for genuine exploration. This was the opposite: the exploration was the project. Three months to brainstorm, animate, fail, and find something that could work at global scale.
The studio activated its full collective force. Multiple design directions were developed in parallel by different artists, each one interpreting the Android 12 shape system through their own visual logic. Some directions went far outside the colour system. Some sequences were fully animated before being discarded. The process was iterative and, by design, wasteful in the best sense: the only way to find the right answer was to exhaust the wrong ones.
The animated collages that emerged became a central piece of the worldwide campaign. Billboards in Madison Square, in-store graphics, TV, and online. A global launch built from three months of creative freedom and a studio willing to use every bit of it.

A BIG DREAM

A film for TSMC, co-directed by Martin Allais and Mostro, co-produced by Special Guest and Brut Works.
TSMC manufactures the semiconductors that power most of the technology the world runs on. The brief was to make that visible: not the chip itself, but everything it enables. Smart appliances, renewable energy, connected devices, the small object held between two fingers that contains more than most people will ever understand.
The visual language combines cel animation and motion graphics in a 2.5D style: two-dimensional illustration with the depth and volume of three dimensions. A technique that gives the piece warmth and precision at the same time, fitting for a subject that is both human in its ambition and extraordinarily technical in its reality.

Hamster

The film is about a girl whose hamster has died. Her parents tell her it went to live in the countryside. They use Copilot to generate images of the hamster living its best life with other animals.The stop motion moment is brief and precise: a hand placing a piece of cheese on a small grave. The grave, the surrounding scene, every element was built by hand as a miniature set. Directed by Bounty Banana, the sequence was shot frame by frame in studio, objects moved incrementally, lighting adjusted between takes.A small world built at scale. The kind of physical detail that only exists because someone made it exist.

Three 15-second films for Microsoft Copilot. Each film highlights a moment where Copilot makes a difference. Each one is animated in a different technique.
That choice was not decorative. Cel animation, stop motion, and motion graphics each carry a different emotional register. Assigning a distinct technique to each story was a way of giving every film its own voice while keeping the campaign coherent as a whole. One brief, three approaches, three directors: Maliboo, Bounty Banana, and Mostro.
The ability to move between techniques without losing visual consistency is what makes this kind of project possible. It is also, more or less, what Brut Works is.
